Spread the love

Reading Time: < 1 minute

An inward-looking poem, by Sujatha, exclusively for Different Truths.

As time winds its way
Down the catastrophic aisles
Past the crossroads of crises
And we pause to look behind,
The bygones will unravel
Trails of bloodied footprints,
Tales of journeys aborted,
And knapsacks orphaned
Halfway on the railroad of life,
Toddling childhoods
That limped all their way
To homes never reached,
Babies almost born
Before the glaring eyes of apathy,
Remnants of dignity
Traded on the wayside
For a few morsels of compassion,
And abandoned happiness
That might have been
Yet were never to be.
