Soumya explores the many layered meanings of the street, in this verse, for Different Truths.

To the homeless, it is his home
To the hawkers, it is their mart
To the urchins, their own playground
To the poet, a way to your heart
To the madari, it is his stage
A gallery, to the graffiti artist
Their office, to the ladies of the night
The protestor, the place to fight for right
To the writer, a maze that is the mind
Where he, if he’s in luck, just might find
The greatest story ever told by man
That would leave all the classics behind
For me, it’s the place where you might be
Though you may be oblivious of me
“People stand and stare, they don’t bother me
There’s nowhere else on earth, I’d rather be “
The invisible man, on his feet
Forever walking on your street.
