Hundreds of Rural Women Rally for Equality and Women Rights, near Allahabad

Rural women, under the banner of PMS, raised slogans and held meetings, demanding equality and women rights, at Ghoorpur market, on the outskirts of Allahabad, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Here’s a report in Different Truths.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, on March 8 (Wednesday), hundreds of women assembled in Ghoorpur market, on the outskirts of Allahabad, and raised the slogan of “Antarrashtriya Kamgar Mahila Diwas Zindabad!” (Long Live International Working Women’s Day). They carried PMS red flag, banners and placards along with raising their voice, stated a press release.

The entire atmosphere resonated with the slogans raised , “Shiksha va ilaj me bhedbhav band karo” (Stop discrimination in education and medicare), “Mahilaon par atyachar band karo” (Stop atrocities on women) , “Dahej lenden ka virodh karo” (Oppose dowry), “Balatkariyon ko police sahyog band karo” (Stop favouring rapists by the police), “Balatkariyon ki sahyogi police murdabad” (Down with police that sides with rapists),“End eve teasing”, “Equal pay for equal work”, “Pay minimum wage to farm labour”, “Pay equal wage to women construction workers”, “Stop atrocities on women in courts”, “Pay minimum government wages to ASHA workers, Anganbadi and School assistants”, “Janata ki azadi ka sangharsh zindabad” (Long live the freedom struggle of the people), “Long live struggle for Dalit rights”, “Long live struggle for women rights”, “Long live struggle for Adivasi rights”, “50% reservation for women in government jobs”, etc.

The women were addressed by Usha Dalwabari, Shyamkali Sadwan, Sheela Nishad, Janki Nishad, Sunita Nishad Beekar, Kiran, Sahdei Harro, Suman, Seema Jagdishpur, Anarkali Osa, Reshma Devi, Janki Devi, Phoolan Devi Nishad Khurd, Manju Pandar, Kusum Devi Bundawan, Shanti Patel Mankawar, Rajpati Nishad Jalalpur, etc, the release added.
