Drawn Close by Time

Here’s a love poem in an urban sensibility, by Sushant, exclusively for Different Truths.

An image,
A voice
I grow old with time
Turning the pages of books
Slowly, sipping coffee.
The sun goes down at dusk
The world is my enthusiasm
I see a moment of attachment
Like a perfect night of lovemaking.
There have to be words, dear
I console the seekers
Of my heart.
The wine I share becomes the poetry
Understandable by distant lovers
Drawn close by time.
The affection I draw close
And cast in written letters
Digital love is a tiresome affair
If I confess, it will only make a commercial poem.
