Black Umbrella

An evocative protest poem, by Naheed, exclusively for Different Truths.

The assassination of the heart was obvious
And terrible, by the scholars so called
Who knew only, the Grammar and science
Of the creeds and criteria, who never obey;
When placed once or at numberless occasions

Shadowed they, every harmless beat under
Hypocrisy fed by the man-glorified construction
Of constitutional, conventional hierarchy
With the blinding array of supremacy
And evaporated fantasy by superstitious canons
