A Plea

An evocative protest poem, by Shernaz, exclusively for Different Truths.

rendered sightless by arrogant oratory
suspended in a state of foolish denial
swept off their feet, they cart-wheeled
oblivious to the deception concealed

fastened on falsehoods painted white
hollow words by the fraudster pledged
theatrical smiles and melodramatic tears
ooze a choosy melody into dogmatic ears

time has flown as it does...chagrined,
disappointed, disillusioned; cursing their fate
not the lunacy of having deified the ungodly
blind adulation persists — ever so oddly

equality is on the ventilator...
Will we just let it go?
The death-knell rings loud and clear
a warning that even the deaf must hear.
