Of War and Destruction

A dark poem, about war and destruction, by Suchismita, exclusively for Different Truths.

All I can visualise is a hungry world,
Ready to throttle the mankind,
From its very tender root
With the venomous teeth.

People conceal their innocuous bosoms,
Under the hard shell of maddening jealousy,
Blood, splattered in the minds long before
We see it on roads through maraud.

Horrifying, extremely derogatory
When religions smother the mentalities
With the poisonous shades of hatred
And puppets like us die in the war.

Nobody knows the sacred path of liberty,
Nobody cares the sanctity of peace,
Nobody listens to the pious words of compassion,
And nobody wants the divine sight of God.

Love is a farfetched dream,
And fraternity, an extravagant illusion,
Let’s dip the souls in the bowl of scurrying infidelity,
Where they can taste the scrumptious drops of blood.

Salacious dreams of the devil are fulfilled today,
As he smiles through the transparent layer of reality
And blood mongers are enjoying the blood-soaked burns.
Genuine souls die in search of the serenity day and night.

Greed, power, and money – three signs of destruction,
The war-torn world gasps for a spoon full of peace.
Humanity bleeds in each passing second and fear,
With its protruding belly pontificates terror in half-eaten loving minds.
