An Autobiography of a Kite

Basudeb identifies with a kite and verses its autobiography, exclusively for Different Truths.

I am one kite flying high in the sky,
I enjoy my freedom with no tie,
Fighting with my friends under the blue,
For throwing him down from the high to the low.

I then find my friend below,
Someone after a long run gets hold of him,
But that young man may set him free,
He then flies high sky, here and there.

The indigo sky I love very much,
I try to touch and hug him tight,
But I miss him, the more I go near him,
He goes away from me.

I see my kite friends like me
Fluttering in the sky,
All they look happy,
As I am also with no melancholy.

The eagle reaches the high sky,
After the Sun, the night appears,
He takes a rest on any top of a tall tree,
He is also a sky wanderer like me.

The skylark soars high in the sky,
Suddenly the bird looks invisible,
He dissolves himself
In the bright sun shine.

The skylark returns in the evening,
To his nest on the earth,
He is free, quite independent,
To choose his resting in a hide.

But what is that long string at my end?
Does that string control my movement ?
Is there anybody at the ground,
who decides where I will go and when?

On the earth who brings me down ?
Where he keeps me then,
With a paper weight on my breast?
Lest I wander on the floor with the wind?

I am not like the skylark or the eagle,
They have their free will, and are capable,
Of doing all, having no string at their back,
Oh my foolery! On me someone has a check!
