25th Anniversary of Babri Masjid Demolition, Seminar on Nationalism and Hindutwa

A seminar on Nationalism and Hindutwa has been organised, at Allahabad, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Babri Masjid Demolition. A report in Different Truths.

Citizens of Allahabad shall observe December 6, the 25th Anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition as Anti-Communalism Day by organising a seminar on ‘Nationalism and Hindutwa’, at Hindustani Academy, at 2.30pm, according to a media release.

The campaign calls upon people to unite and counter the fascist attacks by the RSS-BJP-led governments on the people. It outlines increasing attacks on Muslims and other minorities, ban on bovine trade and slaughter, attack on traders by cow vigilantes, attack by upper caste landlords Dalits in Saharanpur and foisting of false cases on their leaders by the UP government, attack on democratic rights on girl students in BHU as examples of the anti-people measures of the UP govt. It emphasis that attacks on peoples’ rights cannot constitute nationalism, it was pointed out.

It is critical of the judgements in the Babri Masjid Demolition case for not having done justice to the law of the land and the constitution, the release added.

It also strongly outlines promotion of foreign companies to invest in India as counter nationalist measures as they ruin Indian agriculture, peasants, small traders and manufacturers, social welfare and come to invest only to earn profits. It blames comprador dalal sections for promoting foreign exploiters and harming Indian national interests.

It criticises the communal forces for the crime of demolishing Babri Masjid 25 years back on this day and thus insulting Baba Saheb Ambedkar whose death anniversary falls on and is respectfully observed on December 6 by the entire country, stated the release.

Renowned Revolutionary Cultural Activist, leader of Nishant Natya Manch and former lecturer of Political Science in Satyawati College, Delhi University, Shamsul Islam shall be the Chief Guest and PUCL President, Ravi Kiran Jain shall preside. Dr. Ashish Mital and Dr. Pranay Krishna shall also address the gathering.
