This verse is about Neelam’s search for a hero, an icon, in her teenage years.

When I was a teen,
I was often asked,
“Who is your hero?”

I would cast a fleeting look
At all the figures in vogue
And wonder who should be my hero?
My glance
Would halt at one person
For some time,
But soon it would fleet
To gaze at the other…
I could never hero worship
Any single person
And would often wonder
What is wrong with me!

It’s only now that I realise
That deep down my heart was a belief
No person is perfect!
I was rather looking
For an imperfect person
Who was in perfect resonance
With his flaws and limitations!
